Conference

I really loved Conference, as usual.  It's always great.
I feel like I got something personal from every talk.
And I didn't nod off during any of them (sometimes you
just get tired..)
A few things I took away from it:
  • No pain can last forever
  • Do not reject or selfishly avoid having children *cough*
  • Family time is sacred time
  • Look for teachable moments and seek the Lord in prayer
  • Build unshakable faith in Jesus Christ
  • Be Christ centered in thoughts, feelings, and actions
  • Unselfish service and sacrifice
  • Have a firm foundation of faith (it's never too late)
  • God wants us to be polished a little more
  • We are not diminished when good things happen to other people, we should not be jealous or hurt by it.
  • Be kind, and be grateful God is kind
  • Banish any influence that takes us away from our divine mission
  • Don't focus on things that don't lead to spiritual progression
  • Faith, not fear
  • "Don't judge me because I sin differently than you"
  • STOP IT :)
  •  We know where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going
  • Wise parents prepare their children to get along without them
  • Miracles happen
Every time I hear a talk defending the family, and what we believe families are and their importance in God's plan it feels like a little victory.  I love the focus on family.  I also thought it was the sweetest thing when Elder Scott thanked his departed wife.  How blessed we are to have Prophets and Apostles and other church leaders who are so willing to serve.
