The Chronicles of Ragnarnia

                    Steven's team

For anyone who may still read this, and who doesn't know what the Wasatch Back Ragnar is, I will explain.
Ragnar is a 200 ish mile relay race that is done in teams of 12 people (2 vans of 6); some extremers do it with a team of only 6. The Wasatch Back Ragnar is about 197 miles and goes from Logan to Park City.
And Steven took part in this crazy, challenging adventure with some friends this weekend.
I'd have him share his thoughts here, but he is currently napping and trying to feel human again. (This is the only time since being pregnant that I've had more energy than him!)
But my good man remembered to take a few pictures for his wifey :)
Registering van 2 and waiting for van 1

The view from his sleeping bag at their first rest.

Waiting at one of the exchange points.
                      A Rob
                       A Steven

A view from the top of one of the many mountains conquered.

Each runner runs three legs of the race, all varying in distance and difficulty. Steven ran the last leg (straight up a mountain and back down) so he came in separated but at the same time as his team.
Due to miscommunication, and bad judgement on my part, I barely made it to the finish line with minutes to spare and got to see them cross.

                          Victory!
             My handsome warrior :)

     The Chronicles of Ragnarnia Team

        Super attractive, right? Yes :)
I know a lot of people participate in Ragnar (this one had over 1100 teams with some clever names), but it's still a difficult and challenging thing to do and I'm very proud of Steven for taking it on. He diligently trained and worked hard for this. His team did the whole thing in about 34 hours. He had good times on his legs and ran over 11 miles for his part, lots of uphill, and got about an hours worth of sleep in two days.
I think anyone who does Ragnar is crazy, and awesome. Steven was already both, but now this is one more awesome thing I'm proud of him for :)

Cricket

In November of my 5th grade year my parents called us out to the backyard. Sitting by them was this skinny, shy, beautiful, one year old pup. The kids who rescued her named her Cricket, after the cricket in Mulan. My first, and only dog. She was the funniest, smartest, happiest, coolest, most fun, nosy, presumptuous dog ever. She was fast. I loved the way she wound bound through the snow like a dear. Her shy, scared, quiet ways didn't last long with our family and she soon became loud and almost always got what she wanted (because we always gave in). She sat on the couch, took up whatever bed she slept in, and begged with the biggest, saddest eyes. She was so obedient. "Do you wanna bath?" Made her stop in her tracks and her ears would go down. She obeyed my dad the best, unless someone else had a treat. She was my mom's shadow and was clearly in distress if she didn't know where my mom was.
When we first got her and my room was upstairs she slept at the foot of my bed every night. In the morning she would nip at our heels to herd us into the kitchen. When I moved to a downstairs bedroom I always kept my door open a crack for her to come in, usually in the morning to wake me up with slobbery kisses.
We would hide under the covers and she would sniff, dig, and tug the blanket off of us until our face was free and she would lick us like we'd been gone for weeks.
Cricket was so smart. We didn't really have to train her, she usually had it down after the second try. She knew all the typical tricks, plus she would shut the back door after coming in from outside.
On excursions to southern Utah we would come across herds of cattle in the road, she would whine until we let her out and she would herd them off the path with a doggy smile.
She was so patient through all we put her through. Many costumes, many blankets over her head, down slides, and up ladders (she was the first dog I'd seen to climb a ladder) and withholding her from Debbie.
She was so much fun. She loved boating with us. She kneeboarded, went on the wave runner, couldn't keep her out of the water, and she was always the first on the tube even before it was blown up.
We couldn't go anywhere without that dog. Even when we tried she would find a way out, or jump the 6ft fence. We were lucky she never got hit by a car. She would bound down the canal road looking for us, or stroll to the laundromat searching for Debbie. She always knew where to go which made it easy to find her, but there were several times she gave us a good scare.
She was in my senior pictures, wedding pictures, and every family picture, because she is family. I've never known a dog with more of a human personality, with just the right amount of pup. The bratty sister I never had :)
She got really fat for a few years, but the last couple years she slimmed down to skinnier than when we got her. Always in good health though. Recently she started to decline, and hasn't quite been her spritey self- she tried though. We knew she would pass soon, but it's still hard to lose the pup that grew up with us. She passed away peacefully last night. She would've been 18 yrs old in November. A good long life for such an awesome dog.

          We'll miss you little Cricketa.

Happy Faja's Day

Sitting in sacrament today I was filled with love and gratitude for all the Fathers and good men in my life.
My dad is amazing. I'm grateful for his example and all of the things he's taught me. I'm glad he continues to put up with me, even if I am his 'toughest boy' :) I love being his only girl, and I love the relationship we have.
I'm grateful for an awesome father-in-law who has been nothing but kind and sweet to me since the day I met him (even when I'm frequently being a pill). I'm grateful for the example he is and for all he has taught and passed onto Steven.
Steven, my main man :) I can't say enough about how blessed I am to be married to him. I am beyond excited to watch him take on and grow into the role of 'Daddy.' He's going to be the best (and already is).
I'm grateful for my grandfathers, brothers, cousins, friends, neighbors, leaders, and our future little man on the way. I love the roles the men in our lives have and I love this day to honor them and remember how needed they really are.
Most of all I love my Father in Heaven who is the ultimate example, and who has blessed my life with so many great men and fathers.

Happy Father's Day Guys!

Dirty Dashin' with The Chitty's

          How dirty people ride home.

Steven, Jameson, and Wesley ran the 5k part; Jameson and Steven went on to do the 10k with some other friends. The rest of us did the 5k, and we (meaning me) were pretty slow. It's fun no matter what pace you go at! (and yes I did a few mud pits and simple obstacles, but I was really slow and careful and had dr. approval. Plus, Festus [the fetus] isn't too fond of vigorous, long-term exercise; it messes with his peaceful yoga stretches :)

Don't go swimming...

...with your iPhone....
Yep, I did that.
It's toast.
Soggy, not working, toast.

I feel that I can pretend it was sacrificed for a good cause, I did save my two year old nephew after he jumped into the pool, but really it was just my addled brain that forgot to take it out of my pocket.
Luckily my pop-in-law kept his perfectly good iPhone 4 after he got a new phone a year ago. I was able to get all my apps back and my bookmarks and internet things were saved. However, not having wifi and never backing up my phone, I lost all the pictures I'd taken in the last few months and some important notes.
Lesson learned: Back Up Your iPhone!

In a way it's like a fresh start. I hold onto so many random things out of sentimentality or 'what if I can use this later.' I had tons of photos waiting to be blogged that the thought of it overwhelmed me and they kept piling up (I take a million photos of every little thing, it's kind of ridiculous). I'm sad to lose photos of 2014 Easter at the cabin, Steven turning 27 and my dad turning 53 in April, the other photos I had of baby stuff not posted, my new nephew and the million pictures I took of that event, plus other random events. Maybe now I'll  blog as these events happen...maybe :)

These are the few pictures I stole from my mom and Steven (who doesn't take near as many as I do :)
                   Caroline's birthday

Jameson's birthday (he's a pretty pretty princess ;)

My dad's (April 21) and Steven's (April 17) birthdays at the cabin.

A few of the baby fowl we've had by us :)

Our first RSL game of the year, cute Ellie's first game ever. RSL won :) thanks to the Chitty's for the awesome seats!

Abravanel Hall- very talented people and any other day it would've been a great concert that I would've really enjoyed. However, all day at Lagoon for work + pregnant, hungry, and restless + full bladder + cramped space for THREE hours with NO intermission = one exhausted, frustrated kid. I literally cried during one song because it wouldn't end!! pure, frustrated tears.
Again, very talented, good concert, and I'm grateful the Powellls got us tickets, I just wish it had been a different night :)

Baby nephew, Jayse, came three weeks early. Healthy and tiny :) he has super long limbs! And cute little squeaks.

The Dirty Dash! Clean picture, and one of the few of us together. I think I'll steal photos from my aunt and do a full post about it. It was a blast!

Sunset over Farmington Bay. Steven's been into identifying birds, so we get neat little excursions like this :)

It's a poor sum up of the last few months, but that's the best I got right now :)
